Describe the rise of the Qing dynasty. How did the Manchus view Chinese society and culture? In what ways were the Manchus influenced by Chinese traditions?
Before the Qing Dynasty was commensurate to the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty had always been after the Ming Dynasty. During the rule of the Ming Dynasty, natural atrocities and economic setbacks brought forth an idea that the Ming Dynasty had lost its Mandate of Heaven. The loss of hope espoused the people to want a prosperous change. During this time, the Manchus, perceived thoughts that the Ming Dynasty leaders showed condolence having not paid debt owed after the war. Prior to establishing the Qing dynasty, the Manchus had traded with much of China, but had also clashed with them regarding land and resources. While they accepted help from many Chinese nations in conquering the Ming and many scholars embraced Confucian teachings, the Manchus tried their hardest to maintain their cultural identity. They forced many Chinese into shaving their beards to grow one in Manchurian likeness. They also outlawed Chinese and Manchurian marriage and forbade much travel into their borders. The Manchus sought this as an easy opportunity to seize the dynasty and administer jurisdiction. The Manchus obstructed and not only gained but also evolved the Ming Dynasty into the Qing Dynasty. The Manchus later evolved to become homogenous to the Chinese through many years of ruling the Dynasty. The Manchus even added onto the public works of the city to further bestow upon their new dynasty, and all in all they became akin to the Chinese. All in all, the Qing Dynasty was a very unique and strong dynasty that rose in Chinese society.
